  1. Hi, It's me, Weston Rhyn resident and the founder of Community Online :D
  2. Totally hyped up by the media. They might as well have just said PANIC BUY NOW!
  3. I like the idea of a cycle route from Gobowen to Oswestry. A cycle route down to the Maesbury road industrial estate and maybe beyond would be fantastic for people travelling to work. There was talk of a Oswestry "Green way" but I believe it would run from the A5 to Oswestry only, and there lies a problem, how do you get across the A5? under or over? This route across comes at a price which will be the big stumbling block. An option would be to route a path up the side of the A5, and then there is a tunnel under the bypass and out by the Whittington roundabout. This would provide a route to BT, the Venue etc. This again has problems with who owns this land and at what would a cycle route through it cost??
  4. Every year I do the same, I think its because you have to enter Chirk triathlon so early (6 months) that I think the triathlon is way off and suddenly it just 3 weeks to go, hmmm I am ready? Well I have probably trained more than any other year, got the aerowheels and the pointy aero helmet, (yes they do look daft! ) so I guess I should be, just don't quite feel that way. Only one way to find out, Sunday 15th April will reveal all. I also said way back in January that I wanted to be 13kg lighter, well as off today I am 10kg lighter so not too far off. I also have some more goodies on the way in the post, some tri specific cycle shoes, new pedals and new tri shorts :)
  5. Think there is a walking group in Weston Rhyn, IIRC they meet up in the Institute carpark.
  6. Might be interested if you can't find a use for it.

  9. Statement from Shropshire Council...... http://shropshire.gov.uk/news/2012/03/clarification-on-reports-about-free-gym-passes-for-drug-users/
  10. Thanks Kerry, I have the telescope and have been viewing the planets, namely Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and of course the moon with some success. My questions and advice sought are a little more specific and astrophotography linked. I have a few star shots (without telescope). You can clearly see Orion, Taurus and Pleiades (M45) in this shot. http://www.flickr.co...35665/lightbox/
  11. Looking for some help/advice regarding telescopes and astrophotography. Any local people know anything?
  12. I think you can edit the content, you may need to be logged in to an account to edit/add information.
  13. Maybe this could be the place to get a group together to get the Summer Fayre back.
  14. Hi Keith, thanks for the update. Good to hear the work has been done :)
  15. Don't forget Louise from UnLtd will be in the area on the 16th March to discuss any ideas, more info HERE
  16. @Keith, officially no. They are on private land but there is a public footpath nearby.
  17. Keith, any update on day and time?
  18. The lens I used was a Canon EF-S 10-22mm, this is taken at near to 10mm if I remember correctly. It's a HDR taken with an EV of -2 0 +2
  19. Fisherman.... depending on who that is aimed at, I have live in Weston Rhyn for 35 years so am fully informed to make a judgement. The traffic really isn't that bad, its a small village not the M25. I have driven through the village for 18 years, it just needs some patience and common sense applied.
  20. Shell petrol station near Weston Rhyn is about to close for 12 weeks. They very nicely give you a leaflet with £12 worth of vouchers to spend in your nearest Shell petrol station, which the leaflet tells me is 10.9 miles away in Wrexham. ummm what about Oswestry??? Won't be using those vouchers!
  21. Wonder if people could post on here..... something like "I travel to Oswestry at this time, anyone want a lift?" or maybe "I need to get to Oswestry this week anyone going and can offer me a lift?"
  22. Its been a bit of a busy week, training somewhere near a full week. Also managed to squeeze in some rides and a trial run of the Chirk Tri course around the weekends Rugby and Football. Sunday I thought it was time I have a blast on the TT bike with the Zipps fitted. As pictured..... The tyres stayed on! So my gluing must be OK. Although with 150psi in the tyres I can't see them coming off. This weeks turbo session, supposed to "the easy week" then I was asked if it was about time I did my max heart rate test. For people who don't know, we train to certain heart rate zones, percentages of your maximum heart rate. So to truly know what zone you are in, you need to know your maximum heart rate. So to find out, you basically take your heart to its maximum...... and yes, it is as bad as it sounds! Weight is still going the right way, I set a sort of mid goal that I wanted to see if I could be 100kg by the end of Feb. I have a day left.... and I am not too far away, lets see. Here we go..... week 8
