Do you want a new wildlife group in the area? Please come along to Weston Rhyn Institute at 7 pm on 3rd November. The aim of the meeting is to gauge the level of local interest in creating a new community wildlife group Interest in wildlife and enthusiasm are far more important than expert knowledge Individuals and families will be most welcome; come along on the 3rd November for a chat and a cup of tea or coffee If you need more information please ring Polly on 01691 239087 https://www.facebook.com/3-Parishes-Wildlife-Group-1416030745362606/

  6. The website has been updated. https://clonehenge.com/the-63-large-permanent-replicas/
  7. Weston Rhyn has been disregarded by Shropshire Council for far too long and things are coming to a head. All we ever get are broken promises whilst we see other parishes obtain their necessary infrastructure improvements. The roundabout at the top of the village, and the bends leading in to it are very dangerous and now the markings have faded so much that when the road is wet you would not even know it was a roundabout. Shropshire Star are covering our concerns http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2016/04/14/shropshire-council-treating-village-like-a-poor-relation/ Why not come along to the Parish Councils annual meeting on 25th at 7 pm in the institute and let the parish council know what you think, and what you would have on your wish list for the village.
  8. Thats altogether a lot of people who follow whats on this site. Lots of people don't want to do more than read comments.
  9. How many people follow the CO Facebook page?

New Group being formed to protect Old Oswestry and it's setting from inappropriate developments. Come along to Oswestry Memorial Hall Discuss ideas for campaign and ideas for other projects around the hillfort.
  11. It is the only place o see all the minutes in the one place so is useful. Can the admin. email all clerks again and ask them to post the minutes? It would also be very useful to have something from the LJC meetings. Our last one had the Shrops Council Chief Exec talking about all the cuts and how it was going to fall to our local villages to pick up the pieces and run services we wanted. So fairly important! Here is the film that he showed us. Should stimulate debate.
  12. Good idea Robmit but might it be cheaper to put an article in each village magazine and reach everyone that way?
  13. If you want to support the campaign to stop development around Old Oswestry, and you fancy a walk on Sunday, meet at the Gatacre car park in Oswestry at 1 pm.
  14. So much for consultation and localism. SC have gone abainst the wishes of local parish council and of residents!
  15. Maybe you could ask for the Parish's Neighbourhood Plan or its Parish Plan to be updated by the Parish Council? Shropshire Council have to take that into account at planning stages. Couldn't agree more that we should insist that all new build has solar panels and passive heating. You can get solar roof tiles which look just like ordinary tiles too. Personally I am waiting for solar panels to become available that are light weight enough to go on the roof of our victorian house. Also we await the development of a system to feed power down from there which doesn't damage tiles by drilling through them (and hence create cracks and leaks).
