  1. Well here we are, end of January and entering my 4th week of "training" This week has been a little shuffled about due to the Carling and FA Cup competitions, but Liverpool came out of that well :D Fitted in the 3 gym sessions, 2 runs and 2 swim drill sets. Got the Garmin sensor fitted to the bike now, so yesterdays ride was GPS tracked and monitoring speed, cadence and heart rate. Made the decision to get the tyre glued on to my 808 yesterday and to be honest it wasn't too bad a job, I guess time will tell if my skills will actually keep the tyre on the rim. Generally feeling like the training is paying off, effort sessions aren't feeling quite so laboured as they were a couple of weeks back, and the bike and run times are getting quicker. If I am putting my trust in to the scales at the gym, then I am another 1kg lighter. Should be a relatively normal training week, so here we go week 4........
  2. Wayne, its always been a private wood but kind of open to walk through but its been "closed" for some time now. There is a foot path from the Bronygarth road across the field which cuts through part of the wood. From the field you can go a little off path and go up to the Stones.
  3. Chinese, Hairdresser, Shop, Church, Sunday School (pretty much unused), hmmmm couple of Pubs :)

  5. What's the betting that signal goes during Liverpool against City!!
  6. The Earth is currently experiencing the effects of a huge solar storm which I believe peaks tomorrow. This may mean satellite disruption and even means aircraft fly at lower levels in certain areas. What this means for us could be GPS and satellite signal disruption but also may mean we might get to see the aurora as the charged particles hit our atmosphere. So keep your fingers crossed for clear skies and we might get to see this fabulous sight.
  7. I hope in a way that it is one group of people and that they can be caught, and we can put an end to this recent spell of break ins.
  8. Did my first training session with OOTri this week, a one hour turbo training session. For those of you who don't know, this where you use your bike on a roller so that you are stationary. Hard work, but I enjoyed it. Bit lost without a heart rate monitor and cadence sensor..... but thats all about to change with my new training toy, a lovely Garmin Forerunner 910XT :D Other than the turbo session training has consisted of 3 gym sessions, 3 swims (1500m drill sets). 2 bikes, 25miles and 15miles in some crazy winds. Although not too convinced with the scales in the gym, I have dropped another 1kg, so still on target.
  9. Isn't it optically sTimulated luminescence? or is that proving your point? ;)
  10. Winter miles, summer smiles is a phrase triathletes and I am sure a few other sports people use. The theory being you get the hard work done in the winter months and reap the benefits during the summer race season. So week 1 of my training proper is complete, and its been a pretty good start. 4 sessions in the gym, 2 swims (1500 drill sets) and finally got out on the bike, a gentle 25 mile ride to Llanarmon in the cold, brrrrr. It also seems to have worked, 3kg lighter than last week!!
  11. There is something called local view, shown here, which shows public rights of way http://shropshire.go...rrecreation.htm I didn't find specific reference to the Wats Dyke trail but if you zoom as far as you can go to Nefod you will see a broken line which says it is a Long Distance pathway, and its very close to Wats Dyke. It then appears to share the Llwybr Maelor Way. I would assume somewhere there are some way markers.
  12. Thought a gallery picture was needed :)
  13. Link works now, form says it is in use every week for various purposes. Not sure I have seen people there for some time. It is open for village use? Who would you ask?
  14. Well, what a trip to the gym that was. Haven't been for a while and how it showed! :o So I made a decision tonight, well more of a goal. The aim is to be 13kg lighter by the time Chirk Triathlon comes around, 15th April. So thats 14 weeks away, so here we go..... Week 1
  15. I thought I heard it was for office use, but not sure where I heard that. hmmm that's not much use is it......
  16. After two lazy weeks of doing nothing over Christmas I thought it was time to get back training properly. So I kicked off with a 3 mile trail run around the area, haven't run for probably 10 weeks so it was a bit of a shock to the system and pretty slow, although I am going to blame that on the 13 stiles I jumped over ;) So thats the first session over with, might get out on the bike tomorrow and have a decent week training next week.
  17. I will get in touch with my contact who I know will be interested and a useful addition :)
  18. Although I could do tea and cake, I am not sure about the sewing and knitting. However I do know a couple of interested people who might like to get involved. @racheyowen, you should get some of "your mum's" on the forum.
  19. Not sure why I haven't thought about this before but we have a couple of cats pop and have a look at the fish in our pond on a regular basis, one of which is quite a large black cat. If I see it again I will check out the description......
