Community Online 65 Report post Posted February 23, 2012 Did you know that Aqueduct was designed by Thomas Telford but the Viaduct was designed by Henry Robertson. It was built higher to show the dominance of the railways over the waterways.

Maggie 65 Report post Posted February 23, 2012 Agnes Hunt was what she called a cripple, and this is what probably led to her being such an amazing innovator, she believed very strongly that injured and disabled and limbless people should be integrated into the community (whilst most other places hid damaged people away from public view) and she obviously never let her gammy leg get in the way of anything. Come along to the opening of Oswestry Museum on 2nd March and find out more about this amazing lady. There are photos of her nurses riding motorbikes (in long skirts) and some rare objects from the early history of orthopaeadics, (made of leather and straps and buckles which look like bondage gear). . Simple Simon 36 Report post Posted February 24, 2012 Did you know...many years ago a kind old man called Walter Disley used to live on St. Martins Road in Gobowen. He worked in the Officer's Mess at Park Hall Camp where the men nicknamed him "Uncle Walter" after Walt Disney. His son, John Disley, a former Olympian, is the co-founder of the London Marathon. 1 Community Online reacted to this
