  1. Quote from Shropshire Council, "Superfast broadband brings many benefits. We are working to improve broadband for Shropshire communities and businesses. Shropshire Council and Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) have committed £16.4 million to help make this happen. The more demand that is registered locally for superfast broadband, the more likely that private sector investors will be encouraged to make public funding stretch as far as possible and offer more choice to local people. That is why we are asking you to register your interest. By supporting the project and demonstrating with other communities and businesses in Shropshire that broadband is important, we will be able to prove that it is viable. By registering your support you will be helping to make a difference. Please encourage your family, friends, neighbours or other businesses that you engage with to get involved as well." 9. Its Chirk Triathlon this Sunday. Probably quite a few forum members and local people taking part including Community Online's very own leebarnfield Racing starts at 08.30 and last person goes off at 14.24. Route is.... swim at Chirk Leisure Centre, bike route to Glyn Ceriog and back and then the run goes out past the fire station over the Chirk bypass bridge down the lane for around a mile and back. Plenty of places to watch if you are interested, but avoid the Chirk road from the Hand to Kronospan as this is where the cyclists will be racing and turning across the road.
  10. I have added the event to the calendar for you here You will also see it listed in the upcoming calendar events on the main page.

  19. Information below from Village SOS website http://www.villagesos.org.uk/competition Grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 will be available for projects in rural villages or small rural towns with fewer than 3,000 people. Voluntary and community groups or organisations (such as charities, village committees, associations, trusts, co-operatives or social enterprises) are all eligible to apply, as are parish, town or community councils, provided local residents have clearly shaped the project. Wonder if any of our Communities are below 3000? Can we enter seeing as it is Big Local funded?
  20. Information below about this competition, maybe we could have a think and enter to improve somewhere local to us. More information and entry detail here - http://www.veoliaenv...o.uk/cleansweep Help us transform your area We are delighted to have teamed up with Veolia to launch the Clean Sweep for Britain competition. Launched in time for the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations, were aiming to give more areas around the UK some much-needed TLC. Together, we want to transform local neighbourhoods and give something back to the community. We are offering you the chance to win a makeover of a green community space in your local area. Maybe theres a bit of wasteland thats been neglected near you that needs an overhaul? Perhaps theres a sorry old space close by that could do with sprucing up? Or a riverside that needs to be restored to its former glory? You might want to create a place for you and your neighbours to sit and chat. Perhaps youve got no garden of your own but would love somewhere nearby with plants and flowers that you could enjoy. In this special Jubilee year, we want to make Britain shine. We know how much you care for your community and we know there are places that you want to see shine too. So why not enter this fab competition and make those dreams a reality? There are four makeovers up for grabs. Were looking for a winner in each of the following regions: North, South, Midlands and London. Each area will be transformed by the Veolia team. Not only that, each winning area will have a fabulous opening party over the Jubilee weekend to celebrate the transformation of the site.
