neo 6 Report post Posted January 15, 2013 In the November meeting minutes HERE There is reference to Part Night Lighting. Part night lighting is where streetlights switch on at dusk and remain alight until around midnight, when they switch off. They then switch on again at around 5.30am and remain alight until dawn. Gobowen has been selcted as an area by Shropshire Council for Part Night Lighting. There is more information here http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/streetlighting.nsf/open/E3406493DB9E41C080257952003E2C6A

Gardner 10 Report post Posted January 15, 2013 It's possible to argue the opposite: To be anti-social you need to see what you're doing. For instance, drunk people tend to throw their beer bottles to smash them, but they need to see the target. Those that take drugs need to be able to see what they are doing. The police are already being cut back.
Parish Clerk 3 Report post Posted January 16, 2013 The majority of the lights in Hammonds Place and West Place are owned by the Parish Council and the Parish Council does not have any plans currently to convert these lights to part night lighting. However it is something that the Parish Council may look at in the next financial year, but no decsions have been made as to the proposed locations and the public will be asked for comments on any proposals.Shropshire Council are however converting some of the lights that they are responsible for in the parish to part night lighting however I am not sure which lights they are considering as we have not yet received detailed maps.
