  1. Unfortunately when idiots dump waste on privately owned land it is up the the landowner to clear the mess. The owner can take legal action against the idiot if they can find any documentation? Sad that people do things like that with so many responsible ways of disposal available.

  3. Noted that the Quinta regularly opens a dangerous entrance/exit from their campsite onto a bendy section of Bronygarth Road via a field gate. I called Alistair Nurden yesterday and asked them to close it before there is an accident but to no avail;the gate is still open and there are skid marks on the highway. I have reported this issue to the local Police. If anyone else feels that this is a hazard on a dangerous section of road then I suggest they do the same. I'm pretty sure Shropshire Council would refuse the Quinta Christian Centre permission to use this gateway as a site entrance/exit for their business; especially since they have 3 good entrance/exits points already.

Friday 13th January 2012 Time: 6pm - 11pm Keeping ancient traditions alive, Wassailing the Apple Trees takes place on the Friday or Saturday nearest to the Old Twelfth Night (17th January). Wassailing is a traditional folk custom intended to begin the process of waking the fruit trees from their winter slumber and the first fertility festival of the folk calendar. The word wassail derives from the Old English words wæs (þu) hæl, which means variously ‘be healthy' or ‘be whole'. ESSENTIAL DETAILS; Congregation point: Ty Cerrig Orchard @ 19:00 In Bronygarth, the wassail celebration takes place in old orchards and includes the libation of the apple trees with cider and the singing of the wassail song. If you’re unfamiliar with wassailing songs please check out a few on the internet (e.g. You Tube) beforehand. *Ground conditions permitting, we’ll also be visiting (and singing at) the ancient oak trees at Castle Mill (including ‘The Oak at the Gate of the Dead’, which marks the site of the Battle of Crogen of 1165). When gathered together, the villagers form a circle around the largest apple tree and then, brandishing their traditional cider crock, sing the Wassailing Song. *Song sheet to be provided. Toast is then dipped into the cider bucket and placed in the branches of the apple trees to attract the "good spirits" --which come in the form of robins each year to eat it. While the singing continues, warm and spicy mulled cider/wine is passed out to eager apple tree worshippers. A gunner put the finishing touch on the ceremony by shooting into the sky to scare off evil spirits. When the singing is over and cups empty, people retire to the local pub (i.e. The Swan in Pontfadog) via a moonlit procession through the beautiful woods of the Ceiriog Valley. The walk will start at approx 19:30; an approx. distance of 2 miles, which will take about an hour or so to complete. *Those not up for the walk can simply meet in the pub from 20:30. Refreshments/bar food available at The Swan http://theswaninnpontfadog.co.uk/ Transport: Minibus back from the pub. If it’s a nice night you may wish to walk back after closing time. Please bring: A warming drink (Mulled wine/wassail/filled hip flask), singing voice (condition immaterial), a green stick, a walnut (optional) & a lantern/torch to light the way to the pub. Dress Code: Warm clothes advisable!
