  1. Were you or do you know someone that was in my year at Rhyn Park School? i.e. Joined in 1988 and left in 1993 or joined/left that year group. I have set up a Facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/52015626248/ It's a scary 20 years since we left and we have a reunion planned for the 14th June. Please join the group and if you fancy the reunion please accept the invite to the event or get in touch.
  2. Great News Maggie :) So that's 4 of us....
  3. I would assume the Council but would have thought they have a specific route and don't do requests. One drawback is that although the roads are clearer the snow pushed up had actually blocked driveways.
  4. Sounds a great project, I attempt a bit of photography myself :) Maybe we could get some of your group members to join the forum and post some pictures of our area. Out of interest.... why did you go for St.Martins Centre and not Weston Rhyn Institute.
  5. It's almost a year since I was awarded an UnLtd Do It Award to promote, expand and sustain the Community Online project. It's got me thinking.... who else has received an award from UnLtd. It would be interesting to see who is doing what and maybe we could collaborate and share experiences, knowledge etc....
  6. High Street end..... off for 15 minutes. Reports from Rhosweil off from 19.00hrs until 22.15hrs
  7. Anyone know what was happening with the electricity supply in the area last night? Properties in Weston Rhyn reporting power off from 15 minutes and some for over 3 hours.
  8. Thought I saw people going in/working on it when I drove through a week or so ago.
  9. Miners need parental consent for the Colliery Band..... :D Sorry.... *Gets Coat*
  10. There is a Parish Council Meeting on Monday - Development is on the agenda
  11. Was following your London trip on Twitter, looked great fun. Spotted you and Hayley H in a few of the pictures too.
  12. Ahhh OK, I was just thinking I potentially have access to a virtually endless source of material.
  13. Simple Simon Are you also acting on behalf on the Big Local now? You are a very busy man! Maybe your request for prioritising the priorities needs to be separate topic to get some exposure. I think it also needs a guide to the importance level..... 0 is Not Very Important, 1 is.... etc. etc. Trying to think if this can be set up as an online thing, don't think the Poll feature on Community Online will deal with the priority system.... I will look into it.
  14. I think I also put forward the idea, following the fact that you cannot get your car tax from the village Post Office, to make a big thing about helping people do their car tax online at the Institute. Get them in the door, sell them tea/coffee and a cake :)
  15. I had a similar idea..... once you have people there make the most of them. Tea/Coffee etc. I did also mention that Weston Rhyn would have qualify for Village SOS but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Maybe its a bit optimistic but I had the idea of a Community Cafe, internet, tea/coffee, locally sourced produce, make use of the jungle to the side of the building for outdoor seating.
  16. Don't the majority of your users not require the use of a bar/food, e.g. Zumba, Dog Class, youth groups, etc and therefore must pay for room hire. Also with these groups surely they are trying to get people in that locality, so the Institute Hall is the only option and therefore they must pay the rate in which the hall charges. For example the youth groups only option would be the Institute Hall. "The Zumba class on a Thursday don't need the heat on at all, in fact they throw the doors wide open to dispell the heat their bodies have generated through exercise" Hmmmm interesting.
  17. Who are these groups that are so demanding? To my knowledge the youthclub never made such demands. What is the going rate for hire of halls like this? and really what is their alternative?
  18. So who is going along to the Victorian Tea this Saturday? Might pop along and maybe with a few Comunity Online mugs and flyers to give out :)
  19. Think we have hijacked the topic somewhat but maybe just making reference to the book... possibly following the book as a guide and taking pictures along the route. A little bit Portillo following the Bradshaw railway guide.
  20. I want to retake all the pictures in the Hurdsman book..... modern day version, would this qualify?
  21. Will hopefully come along to the show and tells. I will bring some photographs along and hopefully some short films :)
  22. Two mentions in one meeting! How famous am I? .... or maybe that's infamous.
