Gardner 10 Report post Posted December 2, 2012 Four times I've been standing on the curb of the new Zebra Crossing in the centre of Gobowen waiting to get across and the traffic have just wizzed by, totally ignoring me! I thought the idea was the traffic had to stop to make way for the pedestrians! Has anyone else encountered this problem?
neo 6 Report post Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Well the Highway Code Rule 195 says.... As you approach a zebra crossing Look out for pedestrians waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them crossYou MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved on to the crossingAllow more time for stopping on wet and icy roadsDo not wave or use your your horn to invite pedestrians across; this could be dangerous if another vehicle is approachingBe aware of pedestrians approaching from the side of the crossing A zebra crossing with a central island is two separate crossings. Also references the 'law' document as The Zebra, Pelican and Puffin Pedestrians Crossings Regulations and General Directions 1997. Which is a 37 page document and I am sure a jolly good read :) Edited December 6, 2012 by neo
