Maggie 65 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 So what is the reasoning behind the 2 and 2A bus fares from Oswestry to Chirk Bank? The 2A (via Weston Rhyn) costs £2.40 from Oswestry to the west end of Oaklands Road, the 2 (via Gobowen) costs £3.10 to the Poacher's Pocket end of Oaklands Road. That's 70p difference along the road, and for the same distance. Maybe the views of Gobowen come with a premium.
leebarnfield 30 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 Although the destination is the same would the route via Gobowen and assume on to St.Martins be a slightly longer journey and therefore cost more?
Maggie 65 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 But why 'therefore', fares usually based on distance not how for you go on jolly little diversions around houses. Bigger issue is the actual cost for a 5 mile journey, compared with costs per mile on trains and planes..By driving people to use cars..how can we be sustainable in terms of fuel use,... and why do we remove access even to public transport, from the poorest amongst us. Discuss!
Maggie 65 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 yep, Simon, what we need is a decent cylce track, backed up with busses which are more available for people (costs, times and routes)
