  1. The 'Oswestry and Beyond' Heritage open days in September this year are, all being well (i.e. depending on getting funding) going to run free transport to and from 'our' area. Last year I did a walk along the towpath in Chirk Bank, and Chirk Bank Residents did a display, but hardly anyone came, and why would they when there were free busses from Oswestry going to lots of other interesting places but not up here. So this year efforts are being made to include us. So what other attractions should be included and who can volunteer their help in being guides? I would have thought that Ifton Meadows was a prime candidate, But what about Rhyn Park Roman Camp, Battle of Crogan and the Gate of the Dead, and that nice section of Wats Dyke up past Preeshenlle. Comments and offers of help please!

Am off tomorrow to a conference on new media and heritage interpretation. But I thought that a few of the geeks and historians who read this site might also be interested, and, as the conference has a hot new blog site with all talks on it and tweets and all I am posting the link. Last year we got to play with 3D scanners which was very exciting so expect there will be lots of interesting things this year. http://digitalpast2012.blogspot.com/ and now all the papers are available on this site; lots of nice pictures in powerpoints.
