suescho 3 Report post Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) Most of today I spent up at Ifton Heath School making Lanterns with the children. These are made from a framwork of Willow sticks in the form of a pyramid. Each joint is taped together with masking tape and then covered with tissue paper that has been covered with PVA glue. A candle also is put inside and a peice of wire is attached to the top of the frame to act as a point to attach a cane for carrying. 30 children, with an age range from 5 to 11 spent 2-3 hours making these lanterns, which are to be used in the Lantern Parade on the 29th October at 6pm at the Ifton Meadows Nature Reserve. There will also be a bonfire at the top of the hill and a fire eater to entertain us all. All are welcome, Kids of all ages are welcome to bring along their parents and carry a lantern to the top, it's a sight not to be missed.
