Opportunities at the Green Room

Youth leaders and volunteers from Gobowen’s new youth group are pleading to young people to brave the cold next Wednesday evening and join them at their launch of the weekly sessions. The Green Room Youth Project offers a drop in youth group at the Gobowen Pavilion on Wednesday evenings between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Young people aged 9-17 are welcome to join the group.Anyone over 17 is welcome to become a volunteer to help run the sessions.

Since setting up last summer the group have encouraged young people to help shape what they can offer at the Pavilion. Thanks to funding from the Silo Central, Gobowen Area Local Joint Committee and Shropshire Council Positive Activities Fund they have new equipment. The latest edition is a reconditioned pool table and table tennis table.

Chairman of the group Paul Drury said” The pool table is competition standard and we are looking at completing an art project to decorate the cover. The youth workers and volunteers that run the sessions are doing all they can to invite young people and Rhyn Park School have been a great help with getting the message out.We will work together with partners to provide a safe place for young people to socialise and expect the group to really take off this summer”

The committee that run the group are meeting on Wednesday 22nd February at 6.00pm prior to the weekly session to discuss what is going to be on offer during the school holidays. The meeting is open to anyone who may have ideas or time to help. For further information pleas call Sian on 01691 659891 or email greenroomgobowen@live.co.uk

@Carol

According to the Calendar section, the Green Room will be open this Wednesday (15th Feb). Unless otherwise stated, the Green Room Youth Project should be open every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm except for the 2nd Wednesday of the month (when the pavilion is usually used for a parish council meeting).
