Borderland Visual Arts, a thriving artists’ community based in Oswestry and the Borders, is opening its working studios to the public this June. Now in its seventeenth year, this annual show promises to be better than ever with 18 studios showing the work of 34 artists. The accompanying group exhibition, at the Willow Gallery, presents a rich variety of work by emerging and established artists. Another exhibition will also be held in Oswestry Library.
The 60 members of the BVA work in a broad spectrum of art-forms. As well as painting and drawing, members work in textiles, printmaking, woodcarving and photography. There are ceramicists, sculptors, and jewellers too. Working with the Willow Gallery in Oswestry, this is the largest annual showcase of work by the BVA. Most of the works on display are for sale, making this a great opportunity to buy an original piece of artwork at an affordable price. The private view of the group show on the evening of 3rd June is an ideal opportunity to see and buy the work and is open to everyone.
This year the Open Studio event is promoting the idea of an Art Trail, inviting visitors to travel through the town of Oswestry and the Border countryside. This is a unique opportunity to see high quality art on display and to meet talented artists working in their studios.
