  1. On behalf of the organisers of the Victorian Tea they would like to pass on their great thanks for everyone that came along to support the event. A total of £275 was raised on the day and this was donated equally to Weston Rhyn School and The Good Companions.

Big Local 3 Parishes area Gobowen, St Martins and Weston Rhyn are seeking to fulfil two posts to assist in the development of the Big Local program in the area Post 1 - Community Plan Co-ordinator The Community Plan will be the culmination of the visioning and community consultation for the £1 million investment into the area and will be the document which outlines the priorities and activities to realise a better future for the area.   9. Do you have a Community club or organisation in Weston Rhyn, or are you looking to start one? Would you like some money to help? Community Online with the help of some left over funds from Weston Rhyn Youth Club are offering an award of up to £400. You will apply for the award like the BBC program Dragon's Den. There will be no forms to complete. All you need to do is let us know that you are interested and be available to do a short presentation and be prepared for a few questions on the 22nd February 2014. It's at the same venue as the Victorian Tea (The Institute) so you call always call in there too for tea and cakes. Are you ready to face the Dragons? The Annual Victorian Tea at Weston Rhyn Institute Come along for tea, cakes and a lots of chatter :) This year the tea is supporting Weston Rhyn School and 'Good Companions' In the main hall at Weston Rhyn Institute from 2.30pm until 4.30pm £4 for adults, £2 for children under 16 and Free for children under 6
  16. The Oswestry Equality Group are having a meeting on Thursday January 23rd, at which students from Derwen College will be helping us address our perception of disabilities. The meeting is at 7.30pm at The Eastern Oswestry Community Centre, Cabin Lane, Oswestry, SY11 2LQ. Admission will be £1 to cover hall hire and coffee/tea and cake. Students free.   17. A belated Happy New Year to all our members! Did you make any New Year Resolutions? Broken a few already? Why not make one of your resolutions to get more involved in your community? The Community Online forum is a great place to start. Maybe you have an idea for a project, have an event organised or want to start up a group and don't know where to start, well why not make a start by posting something on the forum and see if other people in our community are interested or want to get involved. It's easy and even better its free! There are lots of topics already posted in the forums, so why not have a browse around and maybe comment on a few. A good place to start would be to introduce yourself here - Don't forget you can also write a blog, add events to the calendar and post pictures in our gallery too. The more of our members that get involved the more we all get out of it, so why not make a start today.

  19. Just to highlight that this post as well as the vast majority of the others on the site are posted to our Twitter and Facebook pages. Some selected posts are then linked in the occasional newsletter that gets emailed to members. So all posts get a lot of exposure to members and followers of this site, its just that people are obviously choosing not to comment or make contributions.
