  18. I'd just like to point out that cattle are the biggest producers of greenhouse gases, so land not used for intensive farming may have a positive effect on the environment. This is a very complex issue and there is no doubt that profit is the driving force behind the scheme (both for the landowner and the developer).
  19. I notice that St. Martins has a new Pelican Crossing not far from the junction with Clark's Lane (I think). The idea is for children to cross at the island from the school side to the housing estate. I know that in Gobowen there was been a long campaign to get a crossing over St. Martins Road near School Lane (I think), so that primary school children can get to the large housing estate on the other side of the road. Does anyone know if this scheme is proceeding?
  20. Yes, but the "$" symbols are all coloured red, not green...
  21. I was walking my dog through the muga pitch in Gobowen earlier this morning and found a discarded empty envelope on the ground. It was about an inch square, transparent and printed with lots of small red coloured dollar signs ("$"). Does anyone know what the envelope may have contained?
  22. I've just been up to St. Martins and noticed they've put a new roundabout at the junction by St. Martins School. I wonder if this will help traffic flow at that junction?
  23. There are free tennis sessions for children currently being run on the Gobowen MUGA from 10 am. There was one earlier today. There's another one tomorrow morning, a further session next Thursday morning and a final one next Friday morning. All the equipment is provided. You don't need to be an expert player. It's just for fun, and there's free drinks and biscuits.
  24. The Bryn y Castell Coppice Conservation Group have put on a display of their work in the back room (meeting room) in Gobowen Library. The exhibition will be on throughout the rest of August 2014. All are welcome to view this local initiative.
