Green Room Go For G-Olympics

Following the success of the sports events held at the Gobowen Pavilion on National Playday the Green Room Youth Project are hosting their own mini olympic event on Wednesday 15th August at Gobowen Playingfield between 5pm and 8pm.

The activities which range from Javelin to Sack Race and Footnall Keepy Uppy will be aimed at making sport fun and interesting to young people. The group have been awarded a grant of £7782 to deliver a youth inclusion project which offers 20 sports and Digital Media sessions at Gobowen Pavilion over the next 9 months.Chair of the group Paul Drury said" The project is a great opportunity to engage with young people and let them help develop activities.

The event on National Playday was a good model to shape this activity and demonstated how we were not put off by the rain. Having advice and guidance from qualified Sports Development staff from Shropshire Council has helped us shape what we can deliver. Our sports coach Ross Bodie will be on hand to start the races and run the basket ball activity. The team that have been opening the pavilion since the project started last July have been pleased with the numbers coming along to the sessions. The G- Olympics title for the event was suggested by one of our youth members and considered quite appropriate.
