Paul Drury 23 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) Groups in Gobowen are planning a fun filled Play Day on Wednesday 1st August between 1pm and 4pm. The event which is hosted by The Green Room Youth Project will take place on Gobowen Playing. All ages are invited to take part in this community event which aims to celebrate outdoor activities. Following last year’s event the groups involved committed agreed to expand what was on offer this year. Partners which include Shropshire Council Community Action Team, Outdoor Recreation Team, Selattyn & Gobown Parish Council, Gobowen Allrounders, Gobowen Coppice Group and Gobowen Playing Field Committee have set up a range to attract all ages. The event will host a demonstration of play equipment from Safe & Sound play so that youngsters can try before they buy and give their opinion as to what extra piece of new equipment they would like. There will be a special story time for under 5’s and also a Dance workshop from Diddi Dance. Sports and Games will be organised in a mini Olympics with special prizes for all taking part. Chairman of The Green Room Youth Project Paul Drury said ”We are fortunate that all the groups are working together to support The Green Room. The parish council have helped by allowing the groups to use the pavilion and volunteers will be on hand to man our new tuck shop. Activities which get people out as a family help to build the community . The play equipment demonstration was organised by Cllr Sue Crow at the request of the Silo Central Trustees. Following the event Silo Central will look at purchasing a new item for the play area. We are all looking forward to this event and are hoping that the weather is as kind to as the volunteers and groups are.
