  1. The idea for the formation of a group to represent ALL youth work in the 3 parishes came from a discussion at an LJC meeting but was then taken forward by local youth workers. This is not an LJC initiative but we are grateful for their support.

  11. A couple of issues from the meeting....mentioned several times the misleading nature of some of the press output.....focus on the headline (£million) not the substance(research/resilience/discussion). Ah well, some people prefer more froth than beer. Social media include more than those on ICT. (coffee mornings-garden gate chat etc) Clearly some at the meeting use nothing else than the computer, fine but we are working for all age groups and many older folk are still not comfortable with the machines. Any message going out needs, say, three media. Also, still the problem of far too slow webspeeds (less than 1/2 mbps on this one, sometimes down to dial-up!) The issue of BIG money supplementing County cash is very salient. Will need plenty of thinking here. Especially when Kevin from County Training mentioned there was no money to transport trainees to the nearest trainer!!!! That used to be guaranteed. What has been achieved so far? Well, a fair bit but the most important stuff is the learning. We are only just getting the idea of what the long term money is for. Try Googling "Resilient Communities" and see some of the stuff going on around the world. Well, back to the beer.....not the froth!
  12. I agree with Maggie - lets change the THEY to WE!

  19. Book Box is open this Saturday March 17th from 11.00am to 2.00pm and then every other Saturday. If you attend a meeting or event at The St Martins Centre please feel free to check out the shelves and sign out a book if you find one you are interested in. You are also welcome to come along on any Youth Club evening (Fridays 7.30 - 9.00 term times only). Thanks to St Martins Parish Council and LJC we are in the process of buying new book cases so choosing a book should become easier. You will be able to see the vast range of fiction and non fiction books along with a selection for children and teenagers. Our stock of puzzles seems to be growing - Sue and Judi enjoying the task of completing each one so as to check for missing pieces!!!! Looking forward to seeing you all!!
