    Quinta Stones (Temple Wood)

The website has been updated. https://clonehenge.com/the-63-large-permanent-replicas/
  7. According to a site called Clonehenge at http://replicahenge.wordpress.com, The stone circle in Temple Wood is the earliest replica of Stonehenge. The site documents over 70 other replica stonehenge's around the world. I thought that this was very interesting, yet again we lead the world! http://replicahenge.wordpress.com/2008/12/20/major-wests-stonehenge-built-c-1830/

    Poor relation

Weston Rhyn has been disregarded by Shropshire Council for far too long and things are coming to a head. All we ever get are broken promises whilst we see other parishes obtain their necessary infrastructure improvements. The roundabout at the top of the village, and the bends leading in to it are very dangerous and now the markings have faded so much that when the road is wet you would not even know it was a roundabout. Shropshire Star are covering our concerns http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2016/04/14/shropshire-council-treating-village-like-a-poor-relation/ Why not come along to the Parish Councils annual meeting on 25th at 7 pm in the institute and let the parish council know what you think, and what you would have on your wish list for the village.

    Parish Council Agenda and Minutes

It is the only place o see all the minutes in the one place so is useful. Can the admin. email all clerks again and ask them to post the minutes? It would also be very useful to have something from the LJC meetings. Our last one had the Shrops Council Chief Exec talking about all the cuts and how it was going to fall to our local villages to pick up the pieces and run services we wanted. So fairly important! Here is the film that he showed us. Should stimulate debate.

Good idea Robmit but might it be cheaper to put an article in each village magazine and reach everyone that way?

    Hillfort Hug weekend

If you want to support the campaign to stop development around Old Oswestry, and you fancy a walk on Sunday, meet at the Gatacre car park in Oswestry at 1 pm.
  16. So much for consultation and localism. SC have gone abainst the wishes of local parish council and of residents!
  17. Nice one Lee. Great to see innovation recognised. When will we see your paddle boards on the canal? http://www.lindstrandtech.com/lindstrand-technologies-ltd-wins-2015-ifai-international-achievement-award/
  18. Maybe you could ask for the Parish's Neighbourhood Plan or its Parish Plan to be updated by the Parish Council? Shropshire Council have to take that into account at planning stages. Couldn't agree more that we should insist that all new build has solar panels and passive heating. You can get solar roof tiles which look just like ordinary tiles too. Personally I am waiting for solar panels to become available that are light weight enough to go on the roof of our victorian house. Also we await the development of a system to feed power down from there which doesn't damage tiles by drilling through them (and hence create cracks and leaks).
  19. Parish Councils have diminished powers in planning, and cannot make those sorts of design demands. That is down to Shropshire Council. Have a look on their website for current requirements for 'sustainability' e.g. here http://shropshire.gov.uk/media/836725/sustainability-checklist-template.pdf

    WW1 Soldiers from our area

Does anyone have any photographs etc which have local WW1 soldiers in them? Royal Welsh Fusiliers Museum are looking for old photos, and many lads from our villages joined them in Pals regiments. This is the list of WW1 soldiers with some information about some of them; on Weston Rhyn war Memorial http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/cofadeiladau/westonrhyn_wm.htm St Martins http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/cofadeiladau/stmartins_wm.htm and Gobowen http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/cofadeiladau/gobowen_wm.htm If you know anything about any of these poor lads please post information here. I'm sure many of us are interested in the families who lived here 100 years ago.

    £5million Sustainable Transport Grant

have a look at the Oswestry Place plan on SC's website, prioritising the development of the railway Greenway (whats that) and improving cycle links between Oswestry and Park Hall. http://shropshire.gov.uk/place-plans/oswestry/community-priorities-summary/
  22. Well done y'all, and thanks to Bethan for keeping us all informed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/634108443357107/?pnref=lhc
  23. Have you asked to speak?  What do our local councillors intend to say?  Who is going to speak up for the parish Council?  I've read the agenda and notes and there is a huge amount of objections listed which has obviously amended the application a bit, but do you think this slightly smaller array will help at all?
