The Devil’s Chair - traditional English, Irish and Scottish tunes and songs. The Devil’s Chair have been playing together as a band for four years. With a wealth of experience gained from working with other well known local and national bands, they mix their own vibrant blend of English, Irish and Scottish tunes and songs, both traditional and contemporary. They take their name from one of Shropshire’s most famous landmarks on the summit of the Stiperstones. Andrew Norman leads on concertina, which he makes and repairs professionally. He also plays mandola and is an excellent singer with a wide repertoire of traditional songs. Andy Jones learned classical violin to a high standard at school but saw the error of his ways and has since become a nationally known fiddle player, most notably with Irish band Drowsy Maggie and Birmingham-based Flaxenby. John Evans started singing and playing guitar in clubs and sessions during the folk music revival of the 1960’s and hasn’t stopped since. Joining Andy, Andrew and Hilary in Devil’s Chair is an exciting new musical adventure. Hilary Evans is an experienced dance caller who has worked with many excellent bands for over twenty years. When she’s not calling she joins the band on the Irish drum, the bodhrán. The Cross Keys, Selattyn, OSWESTRY. Friday 29 January. 8pm. Tickets £8 from OFFA EVENTS on 01691 650293 or offaevents@aol.com You can also follow us on Facebook www.facebook.com/offaevents
