  3. Three Parishes Big Local have launched a competition open to residents of all ages from Weston Rhyn, St Martins and Gobowen to design a postcard showing what you love about your village. Entry forms are being distributed around the villages and are available from: Weston Rhyn Post Office Weston Rhyn Institute Weston Rhyn School office St Martins Community Centre St Martins School office Gobowen Library Gobowen School office There is a downloadable entry form and full details of the competition on our website: www.big-local.org/ Closing date is 5pm Friday 8th May. We're looking forward to seeing some great entries! They will all be displayed at The Big Get Together on Saturday 16th May.

  5. Three Parishes Big Local has launched a new grants scheme making £50,000 of funding available for larger community projects over the next 18 months. The aim of the Big Grants Scheme is to support projects or activities, especially new or innovative projects, that require a grant of £501 or more and that work towards improving the Three Parishes Big Local Community, achieving the aspirations laid out in the Community Plan. The typical maximum grant value from this fund is £5000 although higher value projects that would make a significant contribution to the community would be considered.   8. Do you have any spare time on a Monday evening from 7.30 to 9 pm to come and join the Weston Rhyn Singers? We meet at the Welsh Chapel. No experience is needed and music is supplied with popular tunes from the shows and many more. Singing provides a healthy social forum plus gives a sense of pride being part of a friendly organisation with members of all ages from across the local areas.   17. This year’s Big Tea Party will be held on Sunday 28th June, at the Old Post Office, Chirk Bank, and Canalside. Once again we are lucky to have live jazz from The Jazz Syndicate. Refreshments, books, plants, bric a brac and competitions on offer, and all in aid of the Severn Hospice and Midlands Air Ambulance. This summer's Fun Quiz in aid of Severn Hospice is now on sale at the Old Post Office and Weston Rhyn Post Office. This year's clues are about shops and retailers. Copies £1, the closing date is 31st October, and the Big Prize is a £10 voucher. Good luck! "
