Big Local Meeting
St Martins Centre
Tuesday 17th April
6.30 p.m.
We have successfully completed Round 1 of the process to work out how we are going to spend the £1million Grant and have now entered Round 2, where we will all have to complete an acceptable plan based on detailed research about the needs of the area. This is where we will open out the whole discussion into the community and we want to talk to local businesses and start a business forum, start a youth forum, and develop more detailed ways for finding out what individuals think. So you will be seeing more information around the area from now on, e.g. at events.
This meeting will discuss how we do this and how we get more people signed up as volunteers to help the process so we really need lots more people there. We have already got useful information about the area from questionnaires and research undertaken in Round 1 but need to enlarge on this. There is still a huge gap between where we are now and where we need to be before we can spend anything, in terms of needing to work out how best to spend the money so that it maximises benefits to the whole area.
Once Round 2 has been successfully completed and reported back we then move into the exciting bit where we start to spend the £1million in the area.
We need you!

Come along to the opening of the new town museum in Oswestry
10 a.m. and all day
Guildhall
Baileyhead, Oswestry (Town council building; upstairs in the old court rooms)
A group of volunteers have been working frantically for the last month to fulfil a promise made a year ago that we could provide a town museum for the Oswestry area at little expense and this is it!
We are not trying to compete with heavily funded places with fancy displays, but know there is a lot of interesting stuff in our area which people would like to see and find out about. To kick off we have displays about the Welsh Guards, the Orthopaedic Hospital and the Iron Age plus others. As time goes on we will develop new displays.
Come along if you are interested in local history, if you would like to get involved as a volunteer or member of the friends group, or simply have some good ideas.
(I will put up a proper poster here when we have one!)
