Community online is run by a team of like-minded people who are interested in promoting local events and businesses.  Lead by Lee Barnfield and Matt Howard, the team is rapidly expanding to cover listings in different communities.

We had noticed that there was a lack of local information on the internet for the surrounding area.  There were a few local information websites, but nothing that really helped the community to have a presence on the web.

We looked into the reasons that local businesses did not advertise on the web, or have a website of their own.  The main reason we found was that people were scared of the cost of using the internet as a platform for advertising.  Some web designers were charging a fortune to set people up with an all singing, all dancing website, which barely provided basic contact information.  In some cases, we felt that people only needed contact details but were being sold something that they really didn’t need. We knew then that we had to offer a low cost yet professional package which we could use to promote the community.  Being bought up in the local area, we decided to set up community-online to help the local towns and villages.

The idea of using local knowledge to help promote local events and businesses is not a new one, but with community-online, the team can provide a new level of promotional package.  So whether you are merely interested in providing the local community with basic information, or you wish to set up a new business and need a website to promote it, community-online can help.

For example, if a local restaurant wishes to display their menu online, or a garage wishes to advertise its facilities and opening times, we can help promote it.  We are also able to offer business cards, advertising banners, and vinyl sign writing, all to help promote community events and businesses.  With a lot of interest already being shown in the community-online project, you can be guaranteed that your information will be seen by the people that need it most, the local community.
